More than 4,000 voter cards have not yet been collected in the commune of Ziguinchor, said Ameth Tidiane Thiaw, the prefect of the eponymous department.
“There are just over 4,000 cards backlogged. It’s still consistent”, lamented the administrative authority? at the opening of a training session for polling station members who will be present on the day of the legislative election.
“In the department of Ziguinchor, the withdrawal of voter cards is done slowly. The rate of withdrawal is still very low. There were days when the commission only recorded the withdrawal of five cards”, he remarked.
The prefect of Ziguinchor called on the voters concerned to contact the commissions installed in town halls and sub-prefectures, to collect their cards in time, in order to be able to participate in the electoral process.
“I invite citizens to come and collect their voter cards, to spare us the refrain of waiting for the last 24 hours, to storm the Prefecture and be scandalized by the pace”, insisted Ameth Tidiane Thiaw.
