Several administrative councilors are mobilizing for the vote on November 24.
-
Opponents fear that if the extension of the section between Nyon and Le Vengeron is accepted, the expansion of the bypass motorway will be acquired.
-
Several municipalities are against widening the bypass motorway, fearing an additional traffic load.
Will a widening of the motorway bring relief to the Geneva municipalities or, on the contrary, will it lead them to asphyxiation? Around fifty elected officials from Vaud and Geneva, most of them ecologists and socialists, signed a letter from the Transport and Environment Association. This invites us to vote no on November 24 to the credits financing the first part of the widening of national roads. Secondly, elected officials fear the expansion of the bypass motorway which is on the Confederation’s program. A committee called “Geneva sustainable mobility”, made up of associations of residents of Confignon or Sauvegarde Genève, widely distributed a flyer in the communes of western Geneva, those which border the bypass motorway, calling on their inhabitants to refuse this first extension between Nyon and Le Vengeron. This committee fears that “the next step will be imposed without public debate”.
