The School of Young Spectators unveiled, on Saturday November 9 at the Al Hassani Cultural Complex in Casablanca, the preview of Tara on the Moon, marking a turning point in the cultural offering for young audiences in Morocco.
The first adaptation in Darija of an international show, this Spanish play, already translated into Mandarin, English and French, offers young Moroccans an accessible and engaging cultural immersion. The 2024-2025 season of the Young Spectator School promises to be rich and diverse, with a monthly program of shows in French and Darija intended for children and adolescents.
Moroccan actress Nisrine Benchara enchanted the audience by playing Tara, a young girl setting out on an adventure full of mystery to save the Moon after the disappearance of her grandfather. Tara on the Moon combines theater and animation, offering children a captivating journey into a dreamlike universe. “This show represents an important step towards the cultural inclusion of young people in Morocco,” underlined a representative of the School of the Young Spectator, emphasizing the importance of this premiere in the local language to reach a wider audience.
With more than ten years of existence and 300 performances, the School of the Young Spectator, with the support of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, is committed to democratizing art and culture among young people. In addition to public performances, the organization offers free sessions for public schools and associations, offering educational support to parents and teachers. The 2024-2025 season will include eight international shows in Casablanca and Rabat, with varied works such as The Little Prince, In the Skin of Cyrano and The Nutcracker, aiming to offer a rich and inclusive cultural program.
