Apple Intelligence, the Cupertino giant’s in-house AI, is the company’s new innovation. Like almost all companies on the market, Apple wishes to integrate artificial intelligence to its ecosystem.
iOS 18, MacOS 15 (Sequoia) and iPadOS 18 will therefore be an opportunity for the company to enter the AI era. This tool should allow users to gain efficiencythe technology must provide them with a range of advanced featuresincluding a Siri assistant and a smarter Messages app.
If the intention is good, the integration of AI is a delicate process. Although Apple Intelligence needs to rejuvenate Siri, Tim Cook admits the technology could be prone to hallucinations. In order to perfect the future experience of iPhone, iPad or Mac consumers, Apple therefore wants to take its time with its AI.
Artificial intelligence, release of different OSwill therefore not be not fully deployed. The AI of the iPhone 16 and other compatible products will therefore remain in beta for some time. Some of the features will even be absent to then be gradually integrated.
iOS 18 and Apple Intelligence will be incomplete at launch
In short, iOS 18 and the others Bones will be amputated of a large part of their flagship features upon their release. This is particularly the case for Siri who will not have the rightt to all improvements promised by AI before 2025. When Apple Intelligence launches, the following features will be available (in beta):
- Prioritizing notifications
- Summary of web pages
- Transcription of voice messages
- Genmojis (Emoji created by AI)
- Writing support tools
- Calculate math problems in the Notes app
Unfortunately, all of these features will not be not available in French at the exit of operating systems. Once again, in order to facilitate learning and the development of its AI, Apple wishes prioritize the English language.
AI useless for some before 2025?
This means that in addition to diminished experienceiPhone users (for example) will not be entitled to adapted features to their usual language. As a result, for some, these will be unusable or will have little interest.
Obviously, that’s not all and non-AI tools will be also absent For an undetermined time. This is the case, for example, of the function drag and drop between Apple devices or editing “spatial” videos in Final Cut Pro.
It is to be hoped that this delay taken by iOS 18 and other OS either at least paying. It would be very questionable for Apple to deploy tools that don’t even work properly. After all the doubt is allowed, when it was released iOS 17 was a fiasco, full of bugs and problems of all kinds.
