Since this Sunday afternoondozens of people flock to theMédiouna regional hospital (Casablanca), for udo food poisoning.

Staff at Médiouna hospital are working to carry out emergency examinations on a large number of patients who have eaten meals in a snack bar in the city center. According to local sources, more than 50 people were admitted, some in critical condition.

Several patients who received first aid were able to leave the hospital, while some more serious cases will be transferred to the emergency room of the Ibn Rochd university hospital in Casablanca.

This incident caused intense mobilization at Médiouna hospital, where doctors and nurses rushed to take care of patients. In front of the hospital, many relatives and friends gathered, worried about the health of their loved ones.

Those present called for strengthening control of fast food establishments, urging the authorities to dispatch inspection teams to ensure the health of Moroccan consumers.

Relatives of the victims and representatives of civil society believe that the services concerned are not fully playing their role, thus allowing certain establishments to neglect hygiene standards in the preparation of meals.

Civil society actors regularly call for reinforced controls and frequent inspections in snacks in order to prevent non-compliant practices that endanger the health of consumers.

After this incident, the competent authorities, in coordination with the services of the Mediouna prefecture, should open an in-depth investigation to verify whether the meal served by this snack bar is actually the cause of this mass poisoning.
