Remembrance Day will be celebrated this Monday, November 11 across the country. The majority of businesses and establishments in Quebec will be open according to their usual schedule, but service offices provided by the federal government will be closed on this holiday. Here is the list.
Will be open:
- Public transport companies
- Schools, CEGEPs and universities
- Big box stores like malls, home centers, and grocery stores
- Pharmacies, convenience stores and gas stations
- Branches of the Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ) and the Société québécoise du cannabis (SQDC)
- Markets, libraries, swimming pools and municipal gymnasiums
- The offices of the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ)
Municipal services such as compost, recycling and waste collections will be maintained.
Note that many museums, such as the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum of Fine Arts of Quebec, the Pointe-à-Callière Museum, the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art and the McCord Stewart Museum, are closed on Mondays. The same goes for the Biodôme, the Planetarium, the Insectarium, the Botanical Garden and the Biosphere.
Will be closed:
- Banks and other financial institutions
- Post offices
- Passport offices
- Federal service centers, such as those of the Canada Revenue Agency
