The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Nasser Bourita, highlighted, Sunday in Sochi, the vision of King Mohammed VI for partnerships and development in Africa and the royal initiatives for the continent.
Speaking at the 1st Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, Bourita affirmed that “the three major Royal Initiatives, relating to the Rabat Process on Atlantic African Countries, the Initiative to facilitate access of Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean, and the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline Initiative, are moving forward, and are progressing very well.”
These Initiatives illustrate “by the facts, the call that His Majesty the King has never ceased to launch, for a change of approach on the part of traditional partners towards the African continent”, he maintained, recalling that “Africa needs less assistance, and more mutually beneficial partnerships.”
Morocco’s continuous and constant commitment to Africa was thus reaffirmed in Sochi by Bourita, while shedding light on the Sovereign’s African policy, which remains exceptional of its kind, in that it is mainly motivated by development considerations for the African continent, with a human-centered approach, focused on African solutions to local challenges and supported by active, supportive and effective South-South cooperation.
In this direct line of the royal vision, the minister stressed that “what Africa really needs are structuring human and social development projects”before specifying: “Africa’s best partner is the one who knows better than others how to support its momentum, fill in its shortcomings and increase its potential.”
