Released last Thursday, Nabou Leye not welcome at Pikine-Guinaw-rails

She was until now at the heart of the investigation opened by the Criminal Investigations Division (DIC) to elucidate the double murder of dancer Aziz Dabala and his companion Waly. Arrested then placed under arrest warrant, her provisional release on Thursday is appreciated differently in the suburbs where she resides, alongside all the protagonists in this affair. The Observer traveled Pikine-Guinaw-rails to collect the opinions of residents.

A clap of thunder in the serene suburban sky. The provisional release granted to Nabou Leye opens a new chapter in the Aziz Dabala affair, this famous dancer artist brutally killed with his friend and protégé Boubacar Gano, alias Waly, in their apartment located in the Cité Technopole de Pikine. Yesterday, the provisional release decision taken by the judge in charge of the case, after a request made by Nabou Léye’s lawyers, plunged the suburbs into a deep whirlwind. “It’s true that the suburbs have been in turmoil since this news was announced,” confirms Pathé Niang, a close friend of the two families and a well-known figure in showbiz in the suburbs. Pathé, who knows both families well, however, urges restraint. In Pikine, and particularly in the two communes of Guinaw-rails where the families of Aziz Dabala and the seven individuals, including Nabou Léye, arrested and sent to prison live, comments are rife, ranging from the most virulent to the most moderate. “It is the fight of an entire family to elucidate the death of their son which has just taken a serious blow. This evening, the family of Aziz Ba, alias Dabala, is surely demoralized after the provisional release granted to Nabou Léye,” confides a neighbor of the Ba family on condition of anonymity.

Questions about the appropriateness of his provisional release expose Nabou to danger. Both in Pikine and Guinaw-rails, well-known showbiz figures who wished to remain anonymous are wondering about the risks weighing on the beneficiary of this provisional release measure. “This double murder is still fresh in our memories. Many things have been said, some have been misquoted. A real divide exists between families living in the same neighborhood. An uncontrolled act could well occur if we are not careful,” warns this dedicated dancer who has shared the stage several times with Aziz Dabala and Nabou Léye. He continues: “I know them both and, believe me, this affair has deeply shaken the industry, where anything goes: from blackmail to betrayal. But since this event, things have changed a lot; the embarrassment is still palpable. »

The Nabou Léye camp is jubilant. It is mainly through social networks that members of showbiz in the suburbs, favorable to Nabou Léye, have expressed their satisfaction. Like Soda Samb, a renowned dancer very close to Nabou Leye, who spoke with an acerbic tone to challenge those who, from the very beginning, had designated Nabou Léye as “the person who ordered the assassination of Dabala and his friend Wally. “Now let them provide their proof!” » she said, euphoric, after the provisional release of Nabou Léye. In the circle of her close friends, it is said that the dancer was never directly implicated in the double murder in the Technopole city; it was only a question of suspicion, even if we admit that she does not have the profile of a saint.

“She has not been cleared”: the clarification of a specialist requested by L’Observateur tempered the euphoria of Nabou Leye’s friends. In fact, the measure of provisional release from which she benefits is accompanied by judicial review. In clearer terms, this means that Nabou Leye has not been cleared and is not exonerated. She will have to respect a certain number of obligations and prohibitions while awaiting trial. This judicial control is a first restriction on the principle of freedom for an indicted person during the investigation. In other words, Nabou Leye is not out of the woods yet.
