Objectives and content of the test

First year general students will work on the subjects this Friday morning for a period of 4 hours. The coefficient for the anticipated written French test is 5 and counts towards the general baccalaureate grade. Oral French also counts for 5 points.

Objectives of the test:

This test aims to assess the French skills acquired throughout schooling. It focuses on:

  • Mastery of language and expression: Ability to use French accurately.
  • Analysis and interpretation of texts: Ability to read and understand literary texts.
  • Mobilization of literary culture: Use of knowledge acquired in class and personal reading to answer a literary question.
  • Construction of the reflection: Ability to develop an argument based on various texts and perspectives.

Choice of Writing Works:

First year general baccalaureate students will have the choice between two types of writing work: the commentary or essay.

  • Comment : The candidate analyzes a literary text, not taken from the works on the program, in connection with the objects of study of the first. He organizes his ideas to present his interpretation, justified by precise analyses.
  • Dissertation: The candidate develops a personal reflection on a literary question linked to one of the works in the program and its associated journey. He chooses from three subjects, drawing on his knowledge of the work, the texts studied, and his personal readings.
