“Q – Following the visit of the President of the Republic to Morocco, a work schedule was established for the different groups and the different cooperation bodies. Do you have a few details on how this will take place, particularly on the question of migrations? Is there a more or less precise timetable for developing this? There was, for example, the question which had been widely commented on on passes? [consulaires] for Moroccans who were to be deported to their country. Is there a calendar? Are there any details on this?
A – The visit has just ended, but indeed, it was a broad and comprehensive visit in terms of the subjects which were discussed with the Moroccan authorities. The general idea of this visit was indeed to have an enhancement of the relationship and an intensification of exchanges and cooperation on different subjects. Because, in a way, a new page has opened in Franco-Moroccan relations and it has been decided to set up an exceptional reinforced partnership between France and Morocco.
This exceptional partnership concerns all subjects of common interest, of which the migration issue is obviously an integral part, since it is an extremely important aspect of our cooperation, which is the subject of close dialogue. The mixed Franco-Moroccan migratory group makes it possible to address these subjects in detail. It held its sixth plenary meeting on October 3 in Morocco. So this is a discussion that is ongoing and which predated the state visit.
The state visit simply served to accelerate and delve a little deeper into these issues. And there was indeed, during the state visit, a joint desire on the part of France and on the part of Morocco to further strengthen our cooperation on the subject, and it is a bit of the road map which been set for both countries. So I don’t have a date to give you yet, I don’t have a precise timetable to give you, in particular because these are discussions which are being carried out in conjunction with the Ministry of the Interior. But I will be happy to come back to you in the coming weeks to give you a little more concrete information.”
