It also aims to raise awareness of the importance of adopting behaviors that respect the environment and health safety, thus ensuring sustainable waste management on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha.

In this sense, Ahmed Afilal, vice-president of the Council of the commune of Casablanca, in charge of the hygiene sector, affirmed, in a statement to the press, that nearly 6,000 cleaning agents were mobilized for an Eid Al-Adha clean, as well as 1040 waste management machines during the three days of this religious festival.

30,000 tonnes of waste

He indicated that the usual quantity of waste during the days of Eid in Casablanca reaches nearly 30,000 tonnes, thus requiring the mobilization of all human and logistical resources and the cooperation of all stakeholders in the cleanliness sector in the municipality. , under the supervision of elected officials and local authorities, in close collaboration with concession companies.

To achieve this objective, Afilal indicated that 120 tonnes of biodegradable plastic bags will be distributed in the 16 districts of the municipality of Casablanca.

This will be accompanied, he added, by an awareness campaign to encourage citizens to adopt ecologically responsible behavior, in partnership with several civil society associations and company teams responsible for waste management, in coordination with district presidents and local authorities.

He added that this year’s challenge lies in controlling the situation and achieving total cleanliness of the city as soon as possible, calling on residents to cooperate to succeed in this awareness campaign, which is taking place under the slogan “The cleanliness of our Eid… The happiness of our city”.

The program of this campaign also includes a “Caravan for a Clean Eid Al-Adha”, as well as posters and communication materials which include reports on the exceptional effort made by the cleanliness agents during the Eid period. Al-Adha.

For his part, Mohamed Khamas, manager in one of the waste management companies in Casablanca, stressed that this campaign is based on an overall evaluation of the results achieved in previous years, noting that the last four years have seen a big success.

He specified that this year’s operation for Eid will be very important, because it has been prepared for a month with the mobilization of a fleet of trucks which will be supported by a certain number of rented trucks.

Furthermore, the prior preparation of the controlled landfill site in Casablanca was ensured to be able to accommodate the exceptional flow of collection machines and trucks, as well as the various waste generated during the holiday days.

In addition, a detailed program has been put in place for the health, safety, cleanliness and sanitation teams of Casablanca, to carry out specific interventions for the cleaning and disinfection of places of prayer and points of sale. of cattle. He stressed that these intensive measures aim to eliminate nuisances and prevent bad odors.
