Macky Sall did not fail to return to Ousmane Sonko’s accusations. In a long letter published this Wednesday, the former Head of State, in fact, mentioned the affair of “a thousand billion CFA francs” revealed by the head list of the Pastef Coalition.
He categorically denied this information, explaining that banking professionals also denied it. According to Macky Sall, Senegal’s sovereign rating was downgraded by two evaluation agencies, following these “untimely, slanderous and unfounded assertions, the last of which, even more grotesque, which concerns an alleged bank account with a thousand billion CFA francs was quickly denied by banking professionals and could not have fooled anyone.
“At the same time,” he adds, “the alleged ONAS and ASER scandals are slow to be clarified. This is what does not inspire the confidence of any lessor or investor. This is what will further darken the outlook for the national economy, jeopardize businesses and jobs, worsen youth unemployment, and slowly kill the private, formal and informal sector.”
