Agricultural crisis. “Without any reaction from the government”, CR 47 calls for “blocking food freight”

This Monday, November 4, the union announces, via a press release, a mobilization on Place Fallières, in front of the Lot-et-Garonne prefecture which, for the record, is in the process of being renovated… Tuesday, November 19, and not before. If demonstrations have resumed in several departments of the Great South-West, CR 47 asks its members to “get up to date on their farms (autumn sowing, etc.)”, before braving the asphalt .

On November 19, the co-presidents, Karine Duc and José Pérez, hope for “a final start from the government. Without a strong and immediate reaction from the State, we will block, from November 20, French food freight, in order to give a foretaste of what our country will be like, tomorrow, without farmers.” Note that the FNSEA and the JA are calling for mobilization… on November 18.

The campaign starts

These mobilizations, teased for many weeks, take place in a context of certain agricultural distress, but also, we cannot ignore it, in an electoral context.

If the demonstrations can wait, the campaign for the elections to the Chamber of Agriculture begins for CR 47, with a first meeting scheduled for Wednesday November 6. Serge Bousquet-Cassagne will host this first “aperitif in the countryside” in his stronghold, in Saint-Vite. The opportunity to discuss with the outgoing president (after two terms, the latter can no longer run for the boss's chair), and the one on whom the majority union is banking to take over as head of the consular chamber: Patrick Franken.

The CR47, the majority in the department, will organize around fifteen events of this type, until the elections which will be held on January 31, 2025.
