They were notably present during the purchase of the weapon which was used to assassinate history professor Samuel Paty. A third Ebroïcian is also accused of terrorist association.

After the trial concerning the minors involved in the death of Samuel Paty (from November 27 to December 8, 2023), a new trial will be held from November 4 to December 20, 2024 in order to judge the 8 adults involved. This hearing is taking place at the Paris Special Assize Court for terrorist crimes.

Among the accused, two young people from Évreux, relatives of the attacker Abdoullakh Anzorov. Indicted for complicity in assassination and placed in pre-trial detention for four years, Azim and Naïm are suspected of having been aware of the plan of Samuel Paty's assassin. In the indictment order, it is specified that these two accused surrendered “accomplices in the assassination committed on October 16, 2020 … being fully aware of the jihadist-inspired ideological regimentation of Aboullakh Anzorov“.

As a reminder, this young attacker, killed after decapitating the history and geography teacher, was himself from Évreux, from the Madeleine district.

On October 16, 2020, a young man from Évreux of Chechen origin, Abdoullakh Anzorov, murdered a history and geography professor at the Conflans-Saint-Honorine college with several stab wounds.

This attacker has been out of school since the age of 16 and has been radicalized for several months. Some of his tweets had been the subject of reports. He attacks this professor, spotted on social networks for having shown three caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed. These facts took place during a lesson with 4th grade students, devoted to freedom of the press.

The evening of this assassination, Azim and Naïm, relatives of the attacker, went to the Évreux police station; they had been in contact with the young terrorist just before the events.

Azim E, aged 23, is a childhood friend of the attacker. Like him, he is originally from Chechnya and lived in the same district of in Évreux.

Naïm B., 22, met him later, in the summer of 2019. They met in a gym in Évreux. The assailant was a fan of sports, particularly boxing and MMA fighting. In the hours preceding the crime, these two young people were in contact with the killer, and it started the day before, Thursday October 15.

The young terrorist who beheaded Samuel Paty lived in an apartment at La Madeleine in Evreux with his family. One of the two accused comes from the same neighborhood.

All three will go to to look for weapons, it is Naïm who takes them there. In particular, they go to a specialized cutlery shop on Rue de la République, where they buy a knife.

Naïm's lawyer assures that the attacker then said he made this purchase “for his grandfather“. It is also Naïm who will drive the killer the next day to Conflans-Saint-Honorine, near the college where Samuel Paty worked.

Once again, his lawyer, Me Rizkallah, assures that he did not know the reason why Abdoullakh Anzorov wanted to go to this commune.

These two young people from Evreux will be heard on the facts during the week of November 18 to 22, 2024.

In this case a third Norman, Yusuf C. also from Evreux, is being prosecuted for terrorist conspiracy. He is suspected of belonging to the jihadosphere which would have encouraged the terrorist to take action.
The defendants face sentences ranging from 30 years in prison to life imprisonment. The trial which begins this Monday will last almost two months.
