According to data presented by the head of the studies and training division at the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform (MTNRA) Oubdi Youssef during the second Atlas Cedar Meeting, held Saturday in Azrou, this investment is part of the government program relating to the promotion of the Amazigh language within the administration and which is endowed with one billion DH.

Mr. Oubdi detailed the different axes of this strategy, from current projects to future prospects, highlighting the government’s desire to make digital technology an essential lever for the integration and dissemination of Amazigh, notably through the 2021-2026 government program which places significant importance on the effective implementation of the officialization of Amazigh.

The aim, he said, is to improve the reception of Amazigh-speaking users, strengthen the presence of the language in the communication tools and digital services of administrations, recruit reception and orientation agents. mastering Amazigh, set up telephone services in Amazigh in call centers and integrate the language into official websites, signage and public transport communication materials.

A particular effort will also be made to train civil servants to strengthen their communication skills in Amazigh. A training program will be deployed, including modules for reading and writing in Tifinagh, learning administrative and legal vocabulary and developing professional communication skills.

This program will be implemented in collaboration with the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture (IRCAM) and other specialized training institutions.

the same official also insisted on the importance of collaboration with local authorities to ensure harmonious integration of Amazigh at the local level. A pilot project will be launched in 40 local authorities to test and evaluate the effectiveness of the various planned measures, before gradual deployment throughout the territory.

Concerning the achievements already accomplished, Mr. Oubdi mentioned the recruitment of 464 reception agents, distributed in different administrations, and the production of 3,000 signage in Amazigh for five pilot administrations.

A study is also underway to assess the level of integration of Amazigh in the websites of 158 public administrations.

Mr. Oubdi emphasized, in this context, the strategic dimension of the integration of digital technology in the promotion of Amazigh, recalling that the language, long confined to orality, has benefited from the advent of digital to develop and modernize.

The integration of Amazigh into the digital world is thus seen as an essential lever for its dissemination, standardization and anchoring in Moroccan society.
