The Years of Culture ordered three custom pieces from Myriam Labiad, founder of the Mimia LeBlanc Jewelry brand, with the aim of “celebrating the Qatar-Morocco Year of Culture 2024”, we read in a press release.
These creations highlight the richness of Amazigh craftsmanship, characterized by distinctive patterns and precious materials. The designer, who was inspired since childhood by her mother’s jewelry, explains that this special order allowed her to draw on the traditions of the Maghreb, where symbols and shapes carry meaning and history.
The centerpiece of the collection, the Hawwara pendantcombines sumptuous materials like natural lapis lazuli, gray diamonds, cabochon rubies and mother-of-pearl. This creation pays homage to the province of Taroudant, a Moroccan Amazigh region dear to the designer whose mother is from, and is inspired by the Collection of Royal Silver Jewelry from Morocco exhibited earlier this year at the Museum of Islamic Art.
Another emblematic piece of this collection is the Pendant of King Mohamed Vinspired by the Amazigh tradition of using coins in ornaments. “ This unique piece incorporates a rare Moroccan coin representing His late Majesty Mohamed V, the grandfather of King Mohammed VI », Continues the same source. This design recalls the importance of royal heritage in Moroccan culture and is in keeping with the royal heritage of Myriam Labiad herself, who finds in her collections a way of expressing symbolic elements from her family history.
Finally, the necklace Serdukwhich depicts a frosted yellow gold phoenix adorned with rubies, emeralds, diamonds and white mother-of-pearl, echoes ancient Moroccan necklaces and symbolizes rebirth and immortality. This piece, both powerful and elegant, rounds off a collection that pays homage to Moroccan heritage while celebrating the timeless beauty of Amazigh culture.

« It is a tremendous honor to have spent time with unparalleled examples of Amazigh and traditional Moroccan jewelry, and to be inspired to design these unique pieces that celebrate the rich history of Moroccan jewelry. I can’t wait to see my works exhibited alongside the objects that inspired them », enthousiasme Myriam Labiad.
This passion, stemming from long hours spent since childhood observing his mother working on her jewelry, is reflected in every detail of the collection. She considers each piece as an invitation to layer Moroccan beauty with contemporary audacity, inspired by her artistic journey and her attachment to her heritage.
To conclude, let us recall that the Qatar Years of Culture initiative aims to promote lasting cultural partnerships and strengthen ties between nations by promoting their respective heritages. It thus contributes to “ promote respect and understanding between diverse cultures and serves as a catalyst to bring people together », as the press release points out.
This iconic jewelry collection marks a new stage in the cultural dialogue between Qatar and Morocco, while offering a prestigious showcase for the richness of Moroccan craftsmanship, which Mimia LeBlanc wishes to make timeless and accessible through luxury anchored in historical and family values
