It is often said that we are in the era of “peak smartphones”, which may mean that new phones have reached a stage where there are few substantial improvements to be made to their design and where, therefore, they look more and more the same. Perhaps for this reason, it is believed that Apple is set to take another step forward in device appearance with the introduction of the iPhone Air as part of 17.
Samsung might not let the Cupertino giant get ahead of itself, however, with the launch of a purported Galaxy S25 Slim alongside other more predictable flagship smartphone variants such as the Ultra next year. It may or may not replace the Galaxy S25 FE in the launch schedule, possibly beating out the iPhone 17 Air to market.
In this regard, the “S25 Slim” is considered an even more important special edition than the newer version of the Z Fold6 in the sense that it could be available in very limited quantities.
The move should allow the company to determine with certainty whether there really is a demand for thinner devices before applying its industrial design improvements to next year’s Galaxy S26 equivalent.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is now available for $650 at Amazon
