A little respite after the storms of the last few days? Clear spells, a few showers and from tomorrow… “thunderclaps are not excluded”

Belgium is breathing a bit. After several days of intense showers accompanied by thunderstorms, causing floods or mudslides here and there, the weather is a little milder from this Wednesday.

Already this Tuesday, Wallonia finally escaped the worst with limited water accumulations and an entire country was able to return to green code on the map of the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM). A situation which continues today even if slightly unstable maritime currents are heading towards our country. We should therefore expect gray weather, some sunny spells but also a few showers.

From tomorrow, our regions will gradually return to relatively gentle maritime currents, the instability of which will be maintained by an altitude depression which continues over Western Europe.

The full forecast

Today, the morning grayness will be widespread with still the possibility of some light rain or scattered drizzle. During the day, clearings will return and a few showers may develop in places in the interior of the country. In the afternoon and evening, the sky will gradually clear from the west. The maxima will vary between 15 degrees in Haute Ardennes and 19 or 20 degrees in Flanders. The wind will be moderate from west to southwest, along the coast generally quite strong with peaks of 50 km/h.

Tonight and next night, the sky will be partly cloudy at first, then a few banks of low clouds will reform in places. In the Ardennes, possible low clouds may sometimes reduce visibility. The minimums will vary locally between 7 degrees in the Ardennes to 12 degrees by the sea. The wind will become weak to moderate from the southwest again.

Tomorrow, after the dissipation of the possible gray morning, the daytime warming will favor the development of convective clouds in the interior of the country, sometimes bringing showers. A few thunderclaps are not excluded. By the end of the day and the following night, showers will disappear in most areas, and the sky will clear. The maximums will vary between 16 degrees in the upper Ardennes, 18 degrees by the sea and 20 or 21 degrees in Flanders. The wind will be light to generally moderate from west to southwest.

Friday, the day will start under the sun with possibly some local mists or fog banks. The cloudiness will increase quickly, then showers, sometimes quite heavy and stormy, will invade our country from the south-east. Fairly high precipitation accumulations could once again be observed locally. The maximums will vary between 13 degrees in Haute Ardennes and 18 or 19 degrees in Flanders. The wind will generally be light and variable in direction.

The weather this weekend

SATURDAY, the day will start under the sun with sometimes a little mist or a few local fog banks. The convective clouds will gradually reform, then a few showers will break out again in places. The maxima will vary between 14 and 20 degrees. The weak northwest wind will then become moderate at times.

Sunday, after the dissipation of any morning gray, the day will begin under fairly sunny skies. The clouds will subsequently reform and a few small showers will appear scattered. The maximum temperatures will vary between 18 and 22 degrees with a weak to sometimes moderate south to southeast wind.
