Simon Allaire announces more than $84,000 for the restoration of Windsor House in Louiseville

This building, built around 1927, constitutes an important witness to local history and is located in the heart of the historic core of Louiseville. Over the years it has been occupied by several owners who have run various local businesses, contributing to the regional economy. In addition, this place is associated with a major innovation: the invention of the snowmobile, which is said to have taken place in this house. It also received a higher rating in the inventory of the MRC of Maskinongé and it is one of the buildings of particular interest in this same inventory.

The work will include the restoration of balconies and woodwork, painting of woodwork elements, as well as the replacement of the asphalt shingle roof covering with traditional pinched sheet metal. The interventions, which arise directly from the recommendations of the building’s health report, will ensure restoration in accordance with identified needs and will contribute to its sustainability while respecting its heritage value. This work therefore aims to maintain the historical integrity of Windsor House and to revitalize downtown Louiseville.

Richard Brown and his partner were immediately seduced by this magnificent almost century-old house when they decided to settle in Louiseville: “We are extremely grateful for the financial support granted by the Quebec government. This will allow us to highlight the heritage aspect of this architectural jewel, testimony to local history. » Rejoices Mr. Brown, co-owner of Maison Windsor.

For Maskinongé MP Simon Allaire, Windsor House is much more than just a building: “It is a privileged witness to the history of Louiseville and the region. Its preservation allows us to protect a unique heritage, carrying stories and memories that span generations. » Mentions Mr. Allaire.
