This Monday, October 14, news that shook the Swedish media gained momentum: alleged accusations of rape involving Kylian Mbappé in a Stockholm hotel, where the attacker Real Madrid had stayed with some relatives. Although the articles published do not relay any direct accusation against the player, this affair quickly took on a media turn, provoking an immediate reaction from the French world champion.
Kylian Mbappé’s reaction: a scathing denial
A few hours after the publication of the first information, Kylian Mbappé was quick to respond. True to his frank and direct style, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to categorically deny the rumors. His message, short but incisive, can be summed up in two words: “FAKE NEWS”. A clear answer, intended to put an end to speculation.
Mbappé also added a remark that immediately attracted the attention of Internet users and the media: “It’s becoming so predictable, hearing watch as if by chance ????”. This sentence alludes to a particular calendar: in fact, the day before the publication of the rumors, Mbappé and the PSG were to appear before the joint appeals committee of the Professional Football League (LFP). This timing thus raises questions about the appropriateness of these revelations.
Behind this “fake news” affair, another sensitive issue is looming: PSG’s appeal concerning the 55 million euros of unpaid salaries and bonuses, claimed by Kylian Mbappé from his former club. This financial conflict, already well publicized, adds an additional dimension to the affair. The 2018 world champion seems to indicate that the alleged rape affair is there to distract media attention from his trial with PSG.
