Lhe Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico was shot and hospitalized after a cabinet meeting in Handlova, in central Slovakia, local press reported.
The newspaper Dennik N, whose reporter saw the head of government taken away in a car by bodyguards, claimed that the suspected shooter had been apprehended by the police.
Prime Minister taken to hospital
Robert Fico was treated at a hospital in Handlova and is now being transported to the capital Bratislava, the director of the hospital in the central Slovak city told AFP on Wednesday.
“Mr. Fico was brought to our hospital and was treated in our vascular surgery unit,” said Marta Eckhardtova. “The Prime Minister was then transported out of our hospital, he is on his way to Bratislava,” she said.
