here are the two departments on red alert this Saturday

Météo- placed Eure-et-Loir on orange alert on Friday evening, leaving only Seine-et- on red flood alert. The downstream Grand Morin and the upstream Loir could overflow, alerted Vigicrues.

Great caution will be required around rivers. While a heavy episode of rain fell on France in particular due to the Kirk depression, Météo-France placed Seine-et-Marne – already on maximum alert this Friday – on red alert for floods. Eure-et-Loir has for its part been downgraded to orange vigilance for this Saturday.

Vigicrues therefore announced “significant floods on the Grand Morin downstream (77), the Loir upstream (28), the Loir Vendômois (41) and the Eure upstream (28)”.

Residents of these departments are invited to stay at home, or to travel only in cases of emergency and with extreme caution.

Multiple vigilances

In this wake, Météo-France has placed Loir-et-Cher in orange and 20 other departments are concerned by yellow vigilance for the same reason.

Forecasters are announcing a disturbance arriving from the Atlantic next night. “The associated rains will sweep from west to east across the country, which could slow down the decline of rivers already in flood,” they indicate.

At the end of the wettest month of September in 25 years, the average annual precipitation totals have already been exceeded almost everywhere in France.
