The transaction involves DeSerres’ 28 points of sale, which are established in Quebec, Ontario, Nova Scotia and British Columbia, indicates a press release released early Tuesday afternoon.
“DeSerres will maintain the same identity and the same brand image,” said Floriane Claveau, Director of Communications and Partnerships at Renaud-Bray, The Press.
The sale of the century-old company also includes those of its website, Cadres Verbec, specializing in framing supplies and services, and Lamarche Importation, distributor of stationery products.
For the president of Renaud-Bray, Blaise Renaud, the two institutions have several points in common: “they are Quebecois, multigenerational, focused on the world of culture,” the businessman specified in the press release.
Nine years ago, Renaud-Bray acquired the music retailer Archambault. The Griffon stores as well as the Prologue and Pierre Belvédère distributors also belong to the Quebec giant.
A family business
Marc DeSerres, president of DeSerres since 1975, indicated that he had been looking for “some time” for a buyer to ensure the future of the chain.
“The time has come for me to hand over the baton and I do so with complete confidence,” he said in the press release released Tuesday. I have no doubt that the Renaud-Bray group teams, with the help of our employees, our suppliers and our partners, will be able to sustain the freedom to create. »
Three generations have succeeded each other in the management of DeSerres, founded in 1908, until now. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.
