Juan Carlos Garrido, coach of USM Alger, answered journalists’ questions on the eve of the CAF Cup semi-final return against RS Berkane.
The Berkane Sports Renaissance welcomes USM Alger this Sunday at 8 p.m., at the city’s municipal stadium, as part of the semi-final return of the CAF Cup.
On the eve of this North African derby, the coach of the Algerian team, Juan Carlos Garrido, presented himself at a press conference.
“The team works with determination and with the objective of winning CAF, a very important competition for us. We are very committed. We want to win this match on the pitch. I have won CAF twice and I dream of winning it a third time,” said the Spanish coach. Before adding: “Berkane is a great team, with great players and magnificent facilities.”
“We have a big squad and are used to this level of pressure. We have to give our best on the pitch and we have to be mentally strong,” continued the Spanish coach.
As a reminder, the Appeal Jury of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) rejected, this Friday, April 26, the appeal filed by the USMA against the decision imposed on it by the Confederation Clubs Commission granting the victory by forfeit to RS Berkane in the semi-final first leg of the CAF Cup.
In a press release, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) indicates that it received on Friday a copy of the decision of the CAF Appeal Jury regarding the Appeal lodged by the Algerian club against the decision of the Clubs Commission which sanctioned it with a 3-0 forfeit in favor of RS Berkane, and decided to submit this case to the Confederation’s disciplinary jury for possible additional sanctions.
The Jury of Appeal thus confirmed the decisions of the CAF club committee, adopted unanimously by its nine members, granting victory to RS Berkane against USM Alger by 3 goals to zero during the CAF Cup semi-final first leg.
He also confirmed the club committee’s decision to submit the matter to the CAF Disciplinary Jury for possible additional sanctions.
