In the new year, Billie Eilish warned her fans about the dangers of extreme diets, saying they had made her “unhappy.”

“A few years ago…I went on a very intense health journey and I lost a lot of weight,” the 23-year-old singer told the Fresh Air podcast.

“I was thinner than I had ever been and stronger than ever. But at the same time, I was extremely unhappy and I didn’t realize I was. It’s not a pleasant way to live.”

Billie Eilish had already spoken to Vanity Fair in 2021 about how fame pushed her to worry about her figure. The Ocean Eyes singer even had the habit of self-harming due to her lack of self-confidence.

“I think the people around me were more worried than I was, because the reason I was mutilating myself was my body,” she explained to the magazine. “To be completely honest with you, I only started wearing baggy clothes because of my body (…) I remember taking a pill that told me it would make me lose weight and who made me wet the bed – when I was 12. It’s just crazy.”
