The time has come for the return of legendary groups. After the announcement of the reformation of the group Oasis, the arrival of a new singer in the group Linkin Park, it is the turn of The Cure to make a big announcement.

The British rock band has made it official the release of a new album. This album, the first since 2008, will be released on November 1, 2024. Its name: Songs of a lost world.

An original announcement

The news was given this Friday, September 13, 2024 thanks to a repost by Robert Smith, leader of the group. We see a promotional poster for the album stuck in a train station in Crawley, UK.

As spotted by the specialist site Rock&FolkThe Cure has uploaded a new visual identity this week on its social networks. New logo, new website… It smelled like an announcement.

In the following days, fan club members received postcards with the album name and release date in Roman numerals. Some shared the item on X (ex-Twitter).

A highly anticipated opus

Great news for fans who have been waiting for this new opus for a very long time. Indeed, Robert Smith had announced it during an interview on the sidelines of the NME Awards. It was in March 2022.

It will be the 14 work of the group revealed by Boys don’t cry in the late 1970s.
