British Music icon Elton John revealed in early December that he had almost completely lost his sight. An announcement that moved the audience during the London premiere of the musical The Devil wears Prada, for which he composed the music.
I lost my sight
Accompanied by his husband David Furnish, Elton John went on stage to thank the actors and his partner, declaring with emotion: “To my husband, who has been my rock because, as you know, I lost my sight. So I wasn’t able to see tonight’s performance, but I loved listening to it.”
A fight against illness
Elton John’s health problems began this summer, while he was staying in the south of France. A serious infection progressively impaired his vision, first in his right eye, then in his left eye. Today, he can hardly see anything anymore.
However, the artist refuses to be discouraged. Still driven by his passion, he plans to continue making music and performing, although his major tours are now behind him.
A career that never stops
Last November, Elton John surprised the London audience by joining Dua Lipa on stage to perform their global hit Cold Heart. An exceptional performance which proves that, despite his health problems, the singer is always ready to offer unforgettable moments to his fans.
