Until now Julien Doré has always surprised his audience with his offbeat style and his original songs, but for his sixth studio album, the singer saw things differently. For this one, the 42-year-old artist decided to make an album of covers, in which he notably invited Francis Cabrel, Sharon Stone and Hélène Ségara. “I put all my energy into this project, we tried almost 100 songs, but above all I didn’t want to write about my child or my mother, whom I had just lost”explains to Paris Match this Thursday, December 19, the one who recently revealed his greatest fear regarding his 3 and a half year old son.
If he made an album of covers, it is also a way of paying tribute to his beginnings, he who made himself known by participating and winning Nouvelle Star in 2007. “Before the show, I worked on construction sites, I had a group, but we had only given four concerts in five years in the bars of Nîmes. When I found myself on the bonuses having fun, I asked myself if I hadn’t stolen someone else’s place,” he confesses today. Having become a star of French song, Julien Doré, who left the tumult of Paris for the Cévennes several years ago, is now on his sixth studio album.
An inspiring break for his album
With the first two, Ersatz et Bichonhe made himself known and imposed his style, but it is in the third, Lovethat he opens up more deeply about who he is and his emotions. “He then comes out of a painful love story”, as our colleagues remind us. “I was awakened by this broken relationshipfrom which something simple, beautiful and sincere emerged. Everything became clearer to me from that moment on”confides the artist who made an announcement about his career and his desire to give up his presence in the media a few weeks ago.
