The Spiritbox singer speaks out about the changes in the Metal and Hard Rock scene, as the band prepares for the release of their second album, Tsunami Sea.

More diversity behind the scenes in metal

In an interview for The Allison Hagendorf ShowSpiritbox frontwoman Courtney LaPlante discussed the transformations she’s seen in the metal and hard rock scene over the past ten years.

“When I started, there were very few women behind the scenes — managers, press officers, technicians. Today there are many more, and that’s a major change. This brings new empathy and necessary support in an environment where women are not yet the norm, even if we represent 50% of the population.”

Courtney emphasizes that this increased diversity behind the scenes is key to encouraging a more inclusive and equitable environment in the music industry.

A new album, but no collaboration with Jordan Fish

As Spiritbox prepares for release Tsunami Seadue out March 7, 2025 via Pale Chord/Rise Records, Courtney and guitarist Mike Stringer have clarified a rumor surrounding the album’s production.

Earlier this year, a photo posted by Stringer with Jordan Fish (former member of Bring Me The Horizon) in the studio suggested that the latter was producing the album. However, they confirmed during the Zach Sang Show that their usual producer, Dan Braunstein, had taken over the project.

“Michael accidentally made ‘Jordan Fish propaganda’ by posting this photo,” Courtney explains with a laugh.

Mike added: “Jordan is incredibly talented, and we would have loved to work with him, but our schedules weren’t compatible. We learned a lot from him in just three days, and maybe one day a collaboration will happen.”

The group, which received a Grammy nomination for Cellar Doorwill begin a world tour in 2025, with European dates in February and participation in certain concerts of the Linkin Park world tour.
