Jon Collins-Black, a former musician turned entrepreneur, announced to Business Insider that he had hidden five treasure chests across the United States. The latter, which contain valuable objects, are estimated at more than two million dollars.
Musician, investor, and now… treasure hunt organizer. The least we can say is that Jon Collins-Black knows how to reinvent himself. As he explains in the Business Insiderthe American, after five years of preparation, can finally launch his immense treasure hunt throughout the United States. Five chests have been dispersed in different states, and they contain objects as varied as a bitcoin (more particularly the Casascius bitcoin, the first physical one ever created, Editor’s note), an emerald, antiques from a shipwreck and even… rare Pokémon cards. The complete list is available on a dedicated site.
A book with clues
Based on the price he paid to acquire all these items at auction, Jon Collins-Black estimates the total value of his treasure at between $2 million and $3 million. All the clues needed to get to the treasure chests are compiled in a book, called “There’s Treasure Inside”. Be careful, however: to see clearly, you will sometimes need to know how to decipher between the lines. Jon Collins-Black explains in fact in the Business Insider what “the five treasure chests are also puzzle boxes”and contain “instructions on how to open them, so people don’t have to destroy them.” Quite a program, then.
As for him, does he have a favorite treasure? Not really, even if he admits to having a weakness for the emerald, which he judges, quite simply, “belle” to watch. May the best win!
