The British singer, who is working on a new album after completing his farewell tour, reveals that a serious eye infection is preventing him from returning to the studio.
Elton John is having difficulty recovering from an eye infection contracted last summer. If he had given encouraging news last September, the musician revealed Monday in the show Good Morning Americathat this illness had seriously impaired his eyesight, and that he could not move forward with his album project.
“I unfortunately lost the sight in my right eye in July because I had an infection in the south of France. And it’s been four months now that I haven’t seen anything. And my left eye is not at his best,” he explained.

“So there’s hope and encouragement that everything will work out. But I’m a little stuck at the moment, because I can do something like this [l’interview]but going into the studio and recording, I don’t know. Already, because I can’t see the words!”

“I can’t see anything, I can’t read anything, I can’t look at anything,” added the British singer, however remaining optimistic about the progression of the disease. “We are taking steps to try to improve the situation,” he adds.
On November 15, Elton John released a music video in collaboration with singer Brandi Carlile. This song will appear in the documentary on Elton John, directed by her husband David Furnish, broadcast on Disney+ on December 13.
