Rapper Kendrick Lamar releases “GNX”, a totally unexpected new album

The Californian released his sixth opus by surprise on Friday on streaming platforms. A major event for the music industry.

It's an event that no one expected. Rapper Kendrick Lamar, considered by many to be the greatest of his generation, released his sixth studio album on Friday, November 22, titled GNX. The Californian announced it with a simple post on X, with a link to the streaming platforms. This album contains twelve tracks and is less than 45 minutes long.

Kendrick Lamar published in May 2022 Mr. Morale & the Big Stepperscritically acclaimed. The 37-year-old artist, known for his committed lyrics and his many musical influences, made a sensational entry onto the music scene with his first two albums, Section. 80 (2011) et Good Kid, M.A.A.D City (2012). He achieved worldwide fame in 2015, with To Pimp A Butterfly et ses hits i, King Municipality or Alright.

In recent months, his “clash” with Canadian rapper Drake has hit the headlines, with songs published by the two artists to insult each other. A paying “battle” for Kendrick Lamar, his title Not Like Us a hit around the world and accumulating hundreds of millions of plays on streaming platforms. The native of Compton, a city near Los Angeles where Dr. Dre also hails, will perform in February 2025 during the next Super Bowl, the NFL final, the prestigious American football championship.
