Florent Pagny talks about the fight he has been waging against cancer since his diagnosis three years ago. The singer says he measures “his luck in his misfortune”.
In a cross-interview with Marc Lavoine published this Thursday in Paris Match, Florent Pagny talks about three years of life and the fight against illness. The singer confides that after the diagnosis he found himself very quickly in the studio, and that he was “amazed” to have “a rather clear voice”.
“I had a problem just recently,” he said. I hadn't been behind a microphone in a year and I struggled. I said yes to Francis Lalanne – his song was good – to do a track in support of Paul Watson, and I realized that I really needed to warm up my voice. I suffered, and then the good verses and the good choruses arrived at the end of the session. But I had this little moment of doubt where I said to myself ‘damn, I’m getting old’.”
Apart from that, the singer explains that he currently feels good, specifying however that he continues to be under close medical supervision. “How are you. I had a check yesterday. Nothing is moving, but we continue to monitor,” he revealed.
Florent Pagny says he feels lucky to still be alive. “Yes, it’s a difficult plan because you don’t choose and you don’t know how the wheel is going to turn. But I am still part of the lucky category in my misfortune. I have a lot of friends who went through that and who are no longer here today,” he concluded, before his friend Marc Lavoine responded as follows: “It’s good for ‘The Voice’ that Florent be there! (the singer will resume his role as a juror in the talent show, editor's note) A guy like him shouldn't die, so he's not going to die.
