Singer Kendji Girac, injured by gunfire on the night of April 21 to 22, spoke on his Instagram account on Wednesday June 26. He said he wanted to apologize to his fans in a video message.
“I got into a spiral that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I lost myself. I really regret everything that happened”he announces.
“Since my message of May 10, I have not given you any news because I had to take care of myself and think about what had happened to understand how I got to this point. And above all, make the right decisions for the future”says Kendji Girac.
“I also wanted to let justice do its job. And now that this is the case, I wanted to address you”continues the singer.
Investigation
The investigation confirmed that Kendji Girac had injured himself that night. “As you know, I almost lost my life, the love of my family, my audience, my friends. My daughter almost lost her father. I do not know what happened. I want to go back to being the boy I was, that I am deep inside,” the singer specifies in his video.
Kendji Girac says he now wants to learn from his mistakes and move forward, while asking forgiveness from those he may have hurt along the way. « I want to ask for forgiveness, apologize to those I hurt, to whom I caused pain, I never wanted that. My goal is to make people happy (…) God gave me this second chance, it’s not for nothing”he specifies.
Confidence to regain
The singer ends his video by telling his fans that he will now put his strength into regaining their trust. He also thanks the caregivers at the Pessac hospital where he was treated, as well as the Mont-de-Marsan prosecutor.
“I look forward to seeing you again, see you soon”he concludes.
