On Sunday June 23 at 9:10 p.m., France 3 broadcasts an episode Vera’s investigations. A series worn by Brenda Blethyn, an actress born with a little peculiarity…

In the big family of detective series that are a hit here, it’s impossible to miss the very British Vera’s investigations, inspired by the eponymous saga by author Ann Cleeves. A soap opera which, after more than 10 years of existence, will soon end, and some of which are still in stock at France 3… Particularly appreciated in France, with an average of 3 million viewers viewing the station, the program still holds a few secrets for some. There is also one which concerns its star, the actress Brenda Blethyn.

Vera’s investigations : Brenda Blethyn’s little secret

It is an understatement to say that Brenda Blethyn is now confused with the character of Vera Stanhope. A stubborn investigator, she hunts down criminals in her own style, raincoat on her back, rain boots on her feet and hat permanently screwed on her head. If this last element comes from a skin condition which prevents her from going into the sun, as mentioned in Ann Cleeves’ novels, the actress Brenda Blethyn suffered from another physical peculiarity. Indeed, the native of Ramsgate was born with a sixth finger. Culturally, such an excrescence was once considered in Great Britain as a sign of belonging to the witches’ brotherhood… Among her eight brothers and sisters, she did not suffer from this for long, because her parents quickly took matters into their own hands. A surgical procedure was successfully completed when she was still a baby, preventing her from growing up with that extra finger. An old story for the actress born Brenda Bottle, who echoes Vera Stanhope, who often has to deal with demons from the past…

THE Vera’s investigations : the end of the series recorded after 14 seasons

Launched in 2011 on ITV, THE Vera’s investigations, will bid farewell to its fans with a fourteenth season. Already filmed, it will be a bit different from the previous ones, because it is made up of only two episodes and not one more! Two parts which nevertheless will last no less than 120 minutes each! In the meantime, we will be entitled to a rebroadcast this evening on France 3, that of episode 2 of season 11, entitled The path to healing.
