The publishing house Le Quartanier announced Tuesday that the first novel by author Emmanuelle Pierrot, The version that interests no one, was going to live on the big screen.

The production house Couronne Nord has acquired the cinematographic rights to the book which will be brought to the cinema by director Myriam Verreault, to whom we owe in particular West of Pluto (2008) and Kuessipan (2019).

Published last September, Emmanuelle Pierrot’s novel achieved immediate and unanimous success with both critics and the general public. Winner of the Literary Prize for college students and finalist for the France-Québec Literary Prize, the work is a finalist for the Prix des libraires du Québec which will be awarded on May 16.

Emmanuelle Pierrot has complete confidence in the director who was chosen. I know that she will be faithful to the essence of my novel and that she is capable of working with marginalized populations, not by ennobling them, but rather by showing how precariousness gives rise to messy, ridiculous, cruel situations, complex, sometimes sublime, never dichotomousdeclared the author in a press release.

The version that no one is interested in has crossed the soul by Myriam Verreault one winter evening. This golden nugget novel inspires me to create a film that feeds on life itself, its paradoxes, its raw beauties and its sublime ugliness. A film that reminds us that, even at the end of the world, there is always a dream to pursue, or a reality that catches up with youdid she say.
