Lhe Brussels rapper Damso won the Ultratop Streaming Award for the fifth time, which rewards the Belgian artist whose repertoire is most streamed in Belgium. This was announced on Monday by the Belgian Recorded Music Association (BRMA), which represents music producers and distributors in Belgium.
“Damso’s musical repertoire has reached no less than 507.3 million streams in Belgium since the start of his career in 2016, including more than 42 million streams in 2023,” says the BRMA. The Brussels rapper breaks the record and is, with his fifth Ultratop Streaming Award in nine editions, the undisputed king of Belgian streaming, adds the professional association.
“I am happy, honored and proud of my audience, proud of their open-mindedness,” comments the main person concerned. “During my career, I have made so many songs with different styles, from different albums. I experienced a significant media lynching and yet my Belgian public always followed and supported me. I am grateful, but above all proud because I know how easy it is to open your mind to other things and I would understand if one day he no longer does it. »

“Seeing that I am the most listened to artist in Belgium for the fifth time even though I have not released an album for several years motivates me for the album I am currently preparing,” adds Damso.
The Brussels rapper is ahead of, in order, Hamza, Metejoor, les K3, Lost Frequencies, Camille, Pommelien Thijs, #likeMe Cast, Stromae and Angèle.
Between 2006 and 2014, the BRMA awarded Ultratop Download Awards for the most downloaded Belgian artists. Stromae then won several times. Since 2015, the prize has distinguished the most streamed artists. Damso won in 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2021. Only Angèle in 2019 and Stromae in 2022 came to play spoilsport.
