TF1 has kicked off season 12 of “Star Academy”. It will begin on October 12, 2024. And this year, it is also the anniversary of the promotion that Grégory Lemarchal graduated with!
The singer, who suffered from cystic fibrosis, had been the darling of season 4. A year after his release from the castle of Dammarie-Les-Lys, the young prodigy had recorded an album “I become me“, with his hit, “Write the story“.
Tribute to Grégory Lemarchal
Sadly, cut down in his prime, he passed away at the age of 23 in 2007, as a result of his illness. Fans then bought his posthumous album, “The voice of angels“, to listen to his wonderful cover of “SOS from an earthling in distress“.
Since then, TF1 and personalities like Nikos Aliagas (and Karine Ferri, who was his girlfriend) have supported actions for the benefit of the association that bears his name. The first channel even released a biopic TV movie, “Why I live“, in 2020, in his memory.
Soon a song in his memory
To mark the 20th anniversary of its appearance on Star Academy, TF1 has planned things. The channel announced its program on September 25, 2024 at a press conference. We thus learned that “There will be a tribute to season 4 for the 20th anniversary, and in particular to Grégory Lemarchal”.
And above all to announce: “The students will record a single and it will be an unreleased song written by Grégory Lemarchal”All profits will be donated to the association that bears his name, created in 2007. His parents, Laurence and Pierre, his sister Leslie, and Karine Ferri, are all four members of the board of directors.
