Their Butchered At Birth plush toy is selling out in record time

Extreme death metal band Cannibal Corpse recently surprised fans by releasing an exclusive new plush toy inspired by the iconic cover of their 1991 album Butchered At Birth. Sold out just hours after going on sale, the plush toy, dubbed “Butcher Buddy,” is a fun contrast to the band’s brutal and bloodthirsty image.

A plush inspired by the gory and cult art of Vince Locke

Vince Locke’s artwork for the Butchered At Birth album cover has long been considered one of death metal’s most iconic works. Transforming the imagery into a 13-inch plush was a bold move, but one that has clearly won over many fans. With only 300 copies available, the limited edition print quickly sold out on the band’s online store.

Although this plush is no longer available, other merchandise related to this iconic album remains for sale on the Cannibal Corpse website.

A contrast to the group’s brutal image

Known for their bloody and violent themes, Cannibal Corpse aren’t the first band you’d associate with stuffed toys. However, this move, while surprising, isn’t entirely unfamiliar to the band, especially their lead singer George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher. Fisher, despite his imposing appearance and raspy voice, is known for his love of stuffed animals and his ability to master the claw machines at amusement parks. This unique hobby has led him to amass impressive collections of stuffed animals that he regularly donates to charity.

The release of “Butcher Buddy” represents a kind of cross between this softer side of Fisher’s personality and the dark musical universe of the band. This contrast seems to have captivated fans, who rushed to get their hands on this unique piece, creating a real buzz around this unexpected collaboration.
