“I was enjoying it less, if at all.”

It’s the abandonment that no one saw coming in this season of Koh-Lanta, The cursed tribe. This Tuesday, September 17, during the 5th episode broadcast on TF1, just before the comfort test, Alexander, member of the red tribe and presented as the most strategic candidate, declared forfeit. Facing Denis Brogniart, he mentioned “a carefully considered decision which leads him to leave the adventure“. For Tele-Leisurethe Parisian osteopath looks back on the last few days in the Philippines which pushed him to make this irrevocable decision.

Alexander after his abandonment in Koh-Lanta, The cursed tribe : “I had warned my wife that I would not call her.

Tele-Leisure : Did you hesitate for a long time before announcing your withdrawal? What was your main motivation?
Alexander: It wasn’t hunger that motivated me because I was physically fit. It was more psychological with the lack of my daughters, my wife. And time is long when there are no challenges. As my brain is constantly running, I was enjoying it less, or even not at all.. I thought my daughters were waiting for me at home.

If the traditional call to relatives was intervened earlier in the adventurecould this have changed your decision?
I’m not sure. It probably would have confirmed my decision. I knew the phone call was going to be a pivotal moment. If my team had won, I don’t know if I would have had the courage to call. I had warned my wife that I wouldn’t call her. Because it would have undermined me psychologically and it would probably have upset my daughters who, without being able to see me, would have had me on the phone for a minute and then, I wouldn’t have been the one picking up the pieces at home. I wanted to try to give my call to the opposing team to try to sow discord between them. My initial idea was to give it to their leader. But it’s Frédéric and, knowing him from his previous adventure, since he doesn’t have children, he would have given it to a teammate and not kept it for himself. That would have undermined my idea of causing discord…

Alexander, the strategist of Koh-Lanta, The cursed tribe : “I wanted to take the opposite view of all the candidates who had their eyes wide open in front of Ugo.

In your portrait, you say you want to be a stealthy strategistbut yet you warn Ugo from the outset that he risks not finishing the adventure…
I told him that his adventure would not have the same ending as the first one, not that I was going to make him leave very quickly! I wanted to take the opposite view of all the candidates who were wide-eyed in front of Ugo, even if I understand it since he is an outstanding adventurer. But I wanted to stand out. I told him that while smiling and he smiled too. When I arrived on the island, I didn’t claim to everyone that I was a strategist. But I was immediately categorized as such because I observe a lot and I don’t talk much, while being prickly. I wasn’t a strategist, I was just sincere!

Did you have any hope that your abandonment would be replaced by one of the outgoing adventurers?
Even though I know the rule of Koh-Lanta who wants an abandonment not to be replaced, I had hope that yes, for my team but also for Nathanaël and Vanessa who did not have the chance to fully integrate the adventure…
