Rotten Tomatoes is one of the leading American sites in terms of the seventh art. A bit like Sens Critique or Letterbox, Rotten Tomatoes is a ratings site, which compiles feedback from the American press and spectators. Like every year, the famous media has released its list of the worst films. Here are the 10 worst films of 2024 according to Rotten Tomatoes.
10) For Argy – 33%
It must be said that For Argy was a big disappointment for everyone. The British filmmaker Matthew Vaughn had clearly accustomed us to better. The man behind hits like Layer Cake (2004), Kick-Ass (2010), X-Men: The Beginning (2011) or the saga Kingsman sign with For Argy undoubtedly the worst film of his career. The director uses the usual clichés of his filmography, but in a sluggish, redundant manner, without any real idea of artistic vision. We find the author’s language quirks, but without any real consistency… With a score of 33%, For Argy doesn’t even do that badly…
9) Joker: Folie à Deux – 31%
Certainly, Joker: Folie à Deux is found in all the lists of disappointments for the year 2024. Named to Razzie Awardsit’s pretty crazy to see the reception gap between the first and second part. The first Joker was dubbed by the press and spectators, while this sequel is massacred in the four corners of the globe. Huge disappointment for the fans, the fact remains that with Joker: Folie à Deuxthe filmmaker Todd Phillips deserves credit for taking risks. But the recipe did not work, and the film peaked at 31% sur Rotten Tomatoes.
8) Harold and the Magic Pencil – 28%
Taken by Zachary Levi et Zooey Deschanel, Harold and the Magic Pencil went relatively unnoticed. Film already forgotten, Harold and the Magic Pencil tells the destiny of the reckless Harold, who can bring to life anything he wishes with a simple stroke of a purple pencil. More aimed at a young audience, Harold and the Magic Pencil sorely lacking in creativity and soul. A shame for a proposal which is supposed to stimulate the creativity of the little ones…
7) Pole man – 24%
The actor’s first production Chris Pine, Pole man has not yet been released in France. Taken by Annette Bening, Danny DeVito, Jennifer Jason Leigh (great casting for a first film) and by Chris Pine himself, Pole man is a crime comedy somewhere between The Big Lebowski et Chinatown. A mixture of genres which does not take and which results in a score of 24%.
6) The Crow – 22%
The remake of the filmAlex Proyas failed to find its audience. Entrusted to Rupert Sanderswhat a remake of The Crowled by Bill Skarsgårdtook on water from all sides. Certainly we are far from the Gothic masterpiece with Brandon Leebut this remake of The Crow maybe it’s not that bad. If ? Honestly, you guys were hard on this new one The Crow. Okay it’s extremely genericand a little long, and it clearly lacks ambition, but that’s nothing to be ashamed of. Violence, drama, no joke, it’s better than the majority of recent Marvel and DC. But for Americans it’s worth 22% sur Rotten Tomatoes.

Often cited in Razzie Awards also, Reagan has not yet been released in France. Taken by Dennis Quaid, Reagan is based on the works The Crusader : Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism et God and Ronald Reagan : A Spiritual Life by Paul Kengor. The film evokes the life of Ronald Reagan, through the eyes of a fictitious KGB agentwhich followed the politician throughout his career. We don’t yet know much about this fake biopic, other than that it garnered a rating of 18% sur Rotten Tomatoes…
4) Uglies – 16%
Released last September on Netflix, Uglies is the latest affront from former rapper McG. You don’t know who it is? After a career in rap and music videos, McG began directing at the end of the 1990s with Charlie and his funny ladies (arguably his best film to date). From, McG became a Yes Man more or less convincing, which oscillates between endearing entertainment and relatively effective and pure perfectly forgettable turnips. Among his misdeeds, we can cite Terminator Renaissance (2009), Target (2012), 3 days to kill (2014), the two opuses of The Babysitter or even The End of the World (2019). In short, not great cinema then. He was back last year with Uglies, undoubtedly the worst film of his career. Stupid dystopian film, teen movie behind its time, Uglies tells how a teenager is going to spill beauty standards to create a more equal society. In addition to worn-out themes barely touched on, Uglies is also a bland visual propositionwhere clumsy CGI distracts from a threadbare narrative.
3) Rebel Moon: Part 2 – The Slasher – 16%
Also released on Netflix, Rebel Moon 2 is the latest film to date Zack Snydera talented director who sinks more and more into a form of superficial and touting cinema. Barely more successful than the first part, this second Rebel Moon is marred by a lazy writing and by a totally WTF cutting. Rebel Moon 2 is a new fraud from Zack Snyder, who no longer has the presence and charisma of yesteryear to tell his stories.
2) Madame Web – 11%
Madame Web didn’t steal its 11% rating. Fourth installment of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU), Madame Web is like the other films in this nauseating connected Marvel universe. New aesthetic trainwrecka totally lunar montage, which never highlights the abilities of its heroine, Madame Web is a very ugly filmtotally stupid, at the final climax of a staggering lack of epic breath. And the worst irony in all this is that Madame Web it’s still better (well, less worse) than Morbius and that Venom : Let There Be Carnage…
1) Borderlands – 10%
And the big winner of this year 2024 is therefore Borderlands d’Eli Roth. Borderlands is therefore part of the long list of failed video game adaptations. Even if the first part of the film is not so unpleasant than that, the feature film then locks itself into a soporific script redundancy. Eli Roth signs a lazy and predictable plot, which abandons its slightly slick and pop aesthetic, for repetitive dialoguesand crude scenarios. No doubt certain films (notably on this list) would be more deserving of first place than Borderlands, but the voters of Rotten Tomatoes have decided!
