The universe Star Wars continues to open its doors to Hollywood stars since the purchase of its first production company, Lucasfilm, by Disney in 2012. After Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White, confirmed in the next film in the saga The Mandalorian & Groguit’s Ryan Gosling’s turn to negotiate a role in the universe created by George Lucas.
Barbie’s Ken would indeed be in discussions to join the cast of a feature film in preparation since 2022, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Shawn Levy, director of Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), is at the helm of this new project, very few details of which are known at this stage.
However, we know that the filmmaker has teamed up with a long-time collaborator, author Jonathan Tropper, who has been working on a script for over a year. And for even more comfort, Shawn Levy also associated his own company, 21 Laps Entertainment, with that of Lucasfilm, chaired by Kathleen Kennedy, for the production.

The story is not expected to be connected to the Skywalker family, which is at the center of the first nine installments of the saga released in theaters, according to sources from The Hollywood Reporter. Ryan Gosling’s involvement, if proven, should accelerate the project and guarantee it the status of next film Star Wars in production after The Mandalorian & Grogufilming of which concluded in December for a release scheduled for May 22, 2026.
This would be one of the first times that the franchise offers an important role to a star already established in the Hollywood industry. Its previous installments have in fact introduced actors who were still little, if at all, known to the public, such as Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Daisy Ridley, who subsequently acquired a very strong notoriety. For his part, Ryan Gosling has just completed the science fiction thriller Project Hail Maryadapted from the bestselling novel by Andy Weir, for release in 2026.
