The events took place on the night of January 18 to 19. Around midnight, urban violence broke out in the Saugeraies district of Mâcon (Saône-et-Loire).”against a backdrop of drug trafficking“, according to the prefect of Saône-et-Loire Yves Séguy.

Three public buildings were damaged. Moreover, seven “light vehicles” were set on fire, as well as an excavator and ten trash cans. Three police vehicles were also damaged.

As a result, the prefect issued several orders from January 18 to 21. They prohibit the possession and transport of weapons “all categories combined“and ammunition and objects”which could constitute a weapon“. The ban is effective in all of the municipalities of Mâcon, Sancé and Charnay-lès-Mâcon.
