Roar Daytona – EL2: BMW ahead of Acura, Grosjean 3rd with Lamborghini

One week before the start of the 24 Hours of Daytona, the first day of the Roar this Friday saw two manufacturers stand out: Acura during Free Practice 1 through Tom Blomqvist on the No. 60 then BMW during Practice. Free 2 via Dries Vanthoor on n°24.

The Belgian set the best time of the day in 1:35.424, that is to say four tenths better than Blomqvist's time achieved a few hours earlier. Acura placed second in EL2 with the ARX-06 driven by a veteran of the propeller firm, Nick Yelloly, 0.195 seconds behind the best time.

It is obviously difficult to predict a real hierarchy for the Florida classic next weekend, because with ten practice sessions before the start of the race on Saturday January 25, no less than ten driving sessions are on the program. Everyone therefore has their own schedule while taking great care not to reveal their entire game.

Thus, the third car in these Roar Free Practice 2 finished more than six tenths behind Vanthoor's time. This is the Lamborghini SC63, which completed many more laps than during FP1 (17 against 5). Romain Grosjean set the best time for the Italian prototype in 1:36.041.

Cadillac and Porsche have remained discreet for the moment in terms of times, but the No. 40 V-Series.R of Wayne Taylor Racing was the most diligent on the track during this session with 34 laps covered.

Finally, on the GTD side, Maximilian Götz was the fastest in 1:48.237 with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 from Korthoff Competition Motors.
