Aussillon. 12th Vetathlon, the athletes braved the cold

Last Sunday, fans of mountain biking and running competitions braved the cold in good spirits, around Lac des Montagnès, for the 12th edition of the Mazamétain Vétathlon. Thanks to the flawless organization of the Mazamet-Montagne Noire MTB Club, chaired by Jean-Philippe Espine, 80 competitors competed in complete cordiality on the routes laid out by the club's volunteers.

This is because you first had to walk a 6 km section, go around the lake twice, then do 18 km by mountain bike, with a 9 km route to follow twice on the beautiful trails of the area. hobbies. From 9:30 a.m. the runners set off, then the mountain bikers, in the bitter cold “but it wasn't raining” confirms President Espine. Several categories were open, women's solo, men's or women's duo, men's or mixed. Electric mountain bikes were also lined up. On the podiums we were able to note, in the men's solo category, the great victory of Gauthier Bancarel, first in 1h 34mn 03 followed by Damien Cabrol, Ruvens Josse and Alexis Albert. The winner, well known, is a sports coordinator at the Soult school complex and a mountain bike specialist.

In the women's solo category, we find Anna Bancarel in 2h35mn38, followed by Clémence Mazan. In men's duos, it was the pair Benoit Bouche and Anthony Corenzon who finished first in 1 hour 35 minutes 58 ahead of Sofian Boumelid accompanied by Rudy Galinier. On the women's duos side, we find Faustine Bosc with Sidonie Carimalo, in 2:08:22, ahead of Zoé Cathala and Antonia Golecki. In mixed duos, Clara Denneger and Damien Portet won in 1h32mn18 ahead of Solène Rouanet and Quentin Cros. Finally in electrically assisted duos, Loïc Albert and Théo Calas are in the lead, in 1h 27mn 29, ahead of Thomas Bonnafous and Olivier Calvet.

A beautiful sporting moment whose atmosphere was not dampened by the weather, the supplies were up to par as were the hot soups planned.
