The research and training infrastructures and platforms of the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivières (UQTR) constitute a great asset for the scientific community. They allow the research community to combine resources and equipment to give its members access to a wider variety of tools and technologies. In addition, this approach offers an undeniable learning environment for University students.

A new websiteaccessible in the UQTR.CA ecosystem, draws up a practical list of research and training infrastructures and platforms accessible to UQTR.

The idea here is to allow the entire UQTR scientific community and research partners to have an overall portrait of the infrastructures and platforms available in our establishment. This makes it possible to promote the tools necessary for research and training. This is an asset in a transdisciplinary research context.

Group

To illustrate this, let’s take the example of the design and innovation platform launched last summer, thanks to a collaboration between the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Infrastructure and Real Estate Asset Management Service and theI2E3 – Institute for innovations in eco-materials, eco-products and eco-energy based on biomass. It made it possible to bring together a dozen pieces of equipment, as well as the resources dedicated to it. By breaking down the vocations of the different units, we have created a sharing environment which makes it possible to optimize human and material resources, training and research.

Sharing revolution

“Universities are now well anchored in the era of sharing,” explains Luc Laperrièreprofessor and director of Department of Mechanical Engineering. Indeed, equitable and profitable management of cutting-edge equipment requires the adoption of this new paradigm. But what is fantastic about this project is that in addition to the sharing of material resources between three historically very cloistered sectors, we are witnessing a real revolution in the sharing of expertise of its main players, both on the administrative and technical levels. . With this platform for sharing cutting-edge manufacturing tools, the teaching and research of the entire UQTR has just taken a big step forward. »

A pivotal moment

“The transition to a model of institutional research and training platforms represents a pivotal moment for UQTR,” says Jean-François Millaire, dean of research and creation at UQTR. In fact, the establishment has been experiencing a period of exceptional growth for several years. This is why supporting our cutting-edge infrastructure and our highly qualified staff is a priority for the Deanship of Research and Creation. The management model that is emerging will ensure the maintenance of our institutional platforms, optimize their use, facilitate access and ensure that our equipment remains compliant with the highest health and safety standards at the work. »

Please note that you will quickly find the new site Institutional research and training infrastructures and platforms by accessing the Research and Studies tabs on the home page of the UQTR website.
