There are coincidences in life that make you question yourself. Sony Pictures has chosen to reveal the trailer for the film Until Dawn at a time that may be considered inopportune. In fact, it was at the same time as the announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 that the company released the trailer. So she fell through the cracks for a lot of fans.
Fortunately, it’s never too late to watch it. A few days ago, we were treated to a teaser containing comments from David F Sandberg, the director of the film, screenwriter Gray Dauberman and actor Peter Stormare. The latter will reprise his role as Doctor Hill in the adaptation, which will not have much direct link with the eponymous video game.
Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Odessa A’zion, Ji-young Yoo, Belmont Cameli as well as Maia Mitchell share the screen, each fighting for their own survival, but also that of the group. In terms of storyline, Sony Pictures reveals to us:
“A year after the mysterious disappearance of her sister Melanie, Clover and her friends travel to the isolated valley where she vanished, in search of answers. While exploring an abandoned reception center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and murdered in gruesome fashion, one by one…only to wake up and find themselves at the start of the same evening. Trapped in the valley, they are forced to relive this nightmare again and again, but each time the threat of the killer is different, more terrifying than the last..”
As the title of the film suggests, the protagonists will have to survive until dawn. It’s exactly the same principle as for the video game, except that the feature film will not be interactive, removing one of its main assets.

A very special adaptation
With the adaptation, the Sony Pictures teams did not wish to keep the narrative as it was presented in the video game. The characters are different, as well as the place and time of the plot. There remains noUntil Dawn than its slasher side, except for one detail. The press release states: “The film Until Dawn: Death Without End pays homage to the spirit of the game Until Dawn, in particular the branching paths resulting from decisions, as well as their deadly consequences, while offering new characters and an original story.“
The good news shared in this trailer is the release date of the film. Fans will be able to discover it in cinemas from April 23
