A boy band that ended when the singer decided to embark on a solo career. “During the year we were on promotion, I met lots of people, producers, artists, with whom we were on the sets and with whom I had more artistic affinities at that time”he admitted. “I went to their house, we made sound, I ended up with a few demos to play at the record company”said the father of two children before continuing: “And I said [que] I don't want to make a second album [avec le groupe Linkup, ndlr] and then they tell me: 'If you want to go solo, we follow you, we produce you'that’s how it started.” A departure which did not please the other members of the group: “Obviously it was a bit of a shock.”

Matt Pokora then explained the reasons for the failure of the Linkup group according to him. “Humanly everything was fine but artistically, we weren't the same age, I was 17-18, there were some who were 27, there were nine years apart, they were like big brothers but we weren't exactly on the same page artistically“, remembered the 39-year-old singer. “I'm not happy with the pieces we have and in my head it's been very clear from the start anyway”he finally admitted before revealing his goal of having a solo career at the time: Pop starsit will be a springboard for me. I knew exactly what I wanted.”
