Although the franchise Star Wars has had blockbusters that have cost millions of dollars, it seems that there is a project that has far surpassed everything seen so far. And no, we are not talking about the new trilogy or the prequels, but about a spin-off of a spin-off.
According to the American portal Forbes, Andorthe series derived from the spin-off film Rogue One, is currently the most expensive project of all Star Warseven more than any feature film released so far, reaching a whopping amount of 645 million dollars between both seasons. The reason? A series of unfortunate events.
Between the first and second seasons, the series has suffered mishaps of all kinds: first of all, the coronavirus pandemic. COVID-19 in 2020 caused significant delays, as isolation measures paralyzed much of the industry. More recently, in 2023, the writers strike and actors interrupted filming again, which implied months of delays and adjustments in production.
This, added to the inclusion of real scenarios and prosthetic material away from CGI, caused this project to enormously increase its budget. However, it seems that every penny invested in this series has been completely worth it, since the first season was a real success in critics and audiences, and the second is expected to suffer the same fate.
