Lille. The Auguste, these new humor awards created for the Lillarious festival

It's a fairly young festival, yet already well established. Lillarious will celebrate its 4^e edition in early 2025. In addition to nice programmingwhich will see renowned French and international artists perform at Lille and in the Hauts-de-Franceit will welcome for the first time a awards ceremony. Of the statuettes were specially created for the occasion, the Auguste. But what will they reward and where does their original form come from? Answer.

Becoming THE reference for humor in France

“We want to make Lillarious the benchmark humor festival in France,” recalled Grégoire Furrer, director of the festival last November, during the presentation of the next edition in Lille. To do this, a large program of shows, with big names, but also rising figures of French-speaking humor is announced. An international stage has also been set up for this year, and we will find the famous “general states” of humor, which give a professional dimension to the event.

Podcast at the Grand Mix, improv at the Louvre-Lens, training of young talents… This edition promises to be grandiose. And to top it all off, an awards ceremony will enhance the 2025 edition, with the Auguste.

This is unprecedented, “a blank page that had to be filled,” described with emotion the representative of the association creating these trophies, the Community of Humor, during the presentation of Lillarious 2025. This will see therefore the first presentation of Auguste will be held in Lille. It’s scheduled for next Monday, February 3 at 8:30 p.m. at Nouveau Siècle.

Why the Augustes?

The project, set up in 2024 with the support of numerous partners*, started from a simple observation: “We found that an event was missing to celebrate humor”, describes the association behind Auguste de l’humour. .

“Augustus is the prankster, bumbling and mischievous clown, but there is also the prestige of the Roman emperor and the title: being an august artist. »

During this ceremony, organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, professionals and journalists specializing in humor will award eight prizes for the year 2024. Here are them:

• Comedian of the year – CNM Prize (artists whose show sold the most tickets on French territory during the reference period),
• Comedy show of the year (prize awarded to the performing artist, director and producer of the show),
• Author of show text humor,
• Columnist humor,
• Video artist web d’humour,
• Revelation artist humor scene FFH Prize,
• French-speaking revelation artist humor scene,
• Honorary Prize (as a career reward).

More than trophies, works of art

The Augustes are not “simple statuettes”. These objects which will be given to professionals are true works of art. Creations by the artist called… Auguste. For the occasion, he created 15 statuettes, which will see the first rewarded in history.
